Do you remember those Sunday afternoons when grandpa, with infinite expertise and precision, turned a bedsheet, a slide projector, and a pile of books into a single magical experience?
Today, we think of slide projection mostly with nostalgia, but that doesn't mean the memories kept on slides should be forgotten!
There is a solution to enjoy memories kept on slides, old films, or glass negatives again, even if you no longer have a projector!
One of our studio's specialties is slide scanning; we can scan up to 1000 slides in a single working day.
What can we definitely help with?
Among traditional films: 35mm negative, slide positive, pocket film, APS film- Medium format films, even in unusual sizes (4.5×4.5; 6×6; 6×4.5; 6×12 etc.)

- If you find undevelopable film, bring that too, we help with development!

What to do if you have some stray slides or film rolls you want to enjoy in their full glory again?
- Gather them in one place and, if you know what's on them, label them.
- Think about how you want to store the images later (e.g., on DVD or Pendrive), and exactly what you want to do with them (this is important for choosing the necessary resolution) - but we are happy to give advice in the studio!

What exactly does our slide scanning include?
We have developed 2 scanning versions to meet different needs:
- Classic scanning, recommended for large quantities of slides and film. Here, after 24-bit digitization, we rotate and crop the images, and enhance them with automatic color correction. You receive them in JPG format.
- Extra scanning, recommended if you want the highest possible quality images. First, we scan at 48 bits into uncompressed TIFF image files. This results in finer gradients and more possibilities for color management. After digitization, we rotate and crop the images. Then our graphic designer manually adjusts the colors and removes most image defects with about a minute of retouching. You can take the images in both TIFF and JPG formats.
Once you decide which philosophy you prefer, you need to decide on the image resolution:
1200 dpi: Recommended for larger archives, viewing only on TV/computer, or printing in 9×13 or 10×15 sizes. The result is an approx. 1100×1600 pixel image, filling an average monitor or TV.- 2400 dpi: You can zoom into this image a bit, as its size is double that of 1200 dpi. Printed, it fits an A4 or 20×30 photo quality image; the pixel size will be around 2200×3200 pixels.
- 4800 dpi: If you need to enlarge a person from a picture, or just want "More is better", choose 4800 dpi! This produces an image size around 4500×6500 pixels, suitable for printing a 40×60 cm poster.
We usually recommend saving a larger quantity at the classic 1200 resolution because not every picture turns out perfectly. If this is done, and you'd like to print or enlarge a few images, we can save those in a separate run at a higher resolution.

How much does digitization cost?
Basically, the fee for slide-negative digitization depends on the resolution and scanning mode you request.

After chemical cleaning, we scan the film on an anti-newton glass plate, fully flattened, at the highest possible resolution, then our graphic designer removes almost all image defects in 30 minutes (the result depends on the damage of the original image). Ideal for poster printing!

It can happen to anyone that an accident occurs with the freshly received recordings: e.g., if you take it away on a Pendrive, the electronics might give up, or if on DVD, your player might scratch the disc. So that you don't have to pay the digitization cost again in such cases, we keep the recordings for 3 days. This way, you have time to save the images to a safe place. E.g., to a cloud or multiple copies on a hard drive.

- Upon drop-off, we ask for your details and contact information so we can coordinate when the recordings are ready, or if any questions arise (e.g., in case of a frame in worse condition)
- We prepare the digital material by the discussed time and pack the original recordings so you can take them away.
- You can even peek into the finished material before pickup.
- You pick up the material and the original recordings.
- We keep the digital files for another 7 days in case anything happens...
